A potentially more-appealing first lady.
I don't think anyone who followed the campaign can disagree with the thought that Teresa Heinz Kerry was a net negative to the Kerry campaign. Whether it's fair or not, she was viewed as quirky, too outspoken, and exotic. She also didn't help matters either with her "real job" remarks about Laura Bush as well. It's very doubtful THK went over well in the red states or the redder swing states.
Lisa Collis, on the other hand, Gov. Warner's wife, seems to be the ideal first lady in terms of her background. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, grew up in a Navy family, went to college in Texas, and has done some impressive charitable work. She comes off as quite appealing, and would be a net plus to a Warner campaign.

Ah, but Ms. Collis didn't take her husband's last name, and that might be a problem in socially conservative areas. Heck, *my* wife gets flack for that, and I'm not running for anything, and I live in a blue state. A presidential candidate's wife is scrutinized a lot more than that of a gubenatorial candidate.
But then again, she might become "Lisa Collis Warner," following in the footsteps of Hillary Rodham Clinton.
I really think this First Lady stuff is bull(BLEEP). But then again, I'm 22 and think Teresa Heinz Kerry is cool. She'd probably just carry on her charitable work in the White House.
Who cares?!? Frankly, the "First Lady" should have a full-time job like most women in this country... whether that's working at a think-tank or as a doctor or as a teacher. Now, that's a growing reality Republican leaders need to acknowledge.
Laura Bush would do working women and her party a lot of favors by shedding most of her staff and working at a Washington D.C. public library. Maybe then, people would respect her a bit more and ditto for her husband.
It's quite modern for women to keep their last names ( maiden names ) I wish that I had kept mine !
BTW haven't we had enough of the stepford wife B.S ( LAURA BUSH ) I'm not voting for Lisa Collis . I am voting for MARK WARNER ~
